Floyd began playing drums at age 11 and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in music and a passion for performing. Based in New York and Boston after college, Floyd began touring internationally with bands like Spookie Daly Pride, Adios Pantalones and You Scream I Scream (a band that he fronted and wrote original music for).
Floyd has toured in conjunction with G Love, Arrested Development, The Wailers, JJ Grey and Mofro, Reel Big Fish, Tom Tom Club and Goldfinger and has performance and writing credits with Presidents of the Unites States of America and Chris Ballew. And he is currently a multi-instrumentalist with Foggy Roots, Buckle and Shake, the Andy Frasco band, the UN, and Violent Mae.
Floyd then mentored with acclaimed music producers Carl Nappa (Nelly, Pet Shop Boys), Sean Slade (Radio Head, Morphine) Paul Koldrire (Dinosaur Jr, Mighty Mighty Bostones, Pixies), Danny Bernini (The Fray, Notorious BIG), and immersed himself in the world of record producing and engineering.
Floyd’s producing career organically progressed into scoring, performing, and writing for television and film, including original compositions premiering on ESPN, NESN, FOX, MTV, MUCH MUSIC and the notorious comedy theater in NYC, Upright Citizens Brigade. He now composes and produces albums for Primary, which is part of the record label EMI.
In 2010
Floyd partnered with musician and architect Jeff Jahnke to start Case
de Warrenton, a Victorian house converted into a cutting-edge recording
studio in the west end of Hartford, CT.
Floyd splits his time between his CT studio and the Music School of Nantucket, where he produces, composes, and teaches.
Nantucket is home base to Floyd’s loving family—his artistically gifted partner Audrey and their joyful son, Van. He joined the Bridge11 Crew in 2017 as a creative director specializing in the art of improv and the ability to follow the sonic energy of any room he’s in.
